ECOHOUSES

Project | Agrotourism resort

Location | Ierapetra, Greece

Year | 2023

Status | In Progress

An ecological agritourism retreat by the sea in Myrtos, southern Crete, designed to offer complete privacy, an authentic Cretan experience, and a meaningful connection with nature. The project consists of five independent residences, amphitheatrically positioned to enjoy uninterrupted views of the Libyan Sea, within a landscape of vineyards, native planting, and earthy materials that blend harmoniously with the natural environment.

A core ambition of the project is the implementation of sustainable practices and the use of natural materials, with mass timber construction as its defining feature — combining refined aesthetics, a natural atmosphere, and outstanding environmental performance. The five building volumes emerge from the landscape as clean, restrained forms set among the site’s dramatic changes in elevation, with a minimalist material palette and carefully expressed construction details. The spaces in between are shaped by local vegetation, while a vineyard unfolds across the higher parts of the site, offering guests the experience of wine production alongside uninterrupted sea views.

With a strong emphasis on sustainability, low energy consumption, and architectural harmony with the landscape, the development redefines contemporary hospitality, creating a destination centered on experience, tranquility, and wellbeing.
