Green Box is a 115-square-meter renovation project in Chalandri that transforms a former office space into a modern home for a young couple. The transformation redefines the once-fragmented workspace as a warm and unique three-bedroom apartment, featuring a bright, open-concept living and kitchen area.
Inspired by the client’s profession as an educator, the design centers on a custom-designed bookcase, the Green Box, which serves as the spatial and conceptual core of the home. Beyond its function as a library, it incorporates storage spaces and closets, while also subtly defining the boundary between private and shared spaces. Functioning both as a filter and an organizational element, it shapes the flow of movement and creates a strong visual axis.

The bookcase is the main feature of the living room and connects with the open oak kitchen volume. Elements that create a dialogue with the rest of the house are incorporated into the design, such as the perforated screen and the marble island, which separates the different activities within the space.
A curved wall forms another key design element of the layout. It welcomes visitors at the entrance and gently guides them toward the private zone. This gesture softens the transition from shared to private spaces, improving flow, avoiding abrupt separations, and creating a sense of continuity and comfort throughout the home.
The master bedroom includes a walk-in closet as a seamless extension of the sleeping area, with additional daylight filtering through an opening above the bookcase.
Attention to detail is evident throughout, with custom furniture and a simple, clear architectural narrative. A warm color palette combined with natural wood tones and marble creates a contemporary yet timeless atmosphere. Playful touches and pops of color bring personality, making the home both comfortable and inviting for everyday life.
